In the deep dark forest, under the moon's glow, little Kiwi chick waddled through the ferns. She saw something shiny on the mossy ground.
Kiwi chick pecked the torch. It flickered on! A golden beam lit up the leaves around her.
"Someone lost this light," she chirped. "I must find them!" So she tucked the torch under her wing and followed the winding path.
Around a bend she found a tramper sitting on a log. His big backpack was beside him, and he looked sad.
Kiwi chick waddled up and nudged the torch toward his hand. "Is this yours?" she seemed to say. The tramper's face lit up with a smile.
"Thank you, little friend!" he whispered. And with fireflies twinkling all around, Kiwi chick felt proud — and sleepy. She shuffled home to her nest.
